Life Groups
For those who seek God, this is an opportunity to come together regularly in a local home for the purpose of helping and supporting each other. To worship, share, pray, learn and grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and in the process build an authentic Christian community, and to become part of our Christian family.

Why do we have life groups?

small group bible study

1. God created the small group. The first humans were a small group the family. It is in a family environment that human beings can most effectively mature emotionally and spiritually.

2. Jesus practiced it. He ministered to the multitude but he lived his ministry in a small group and trained his disciples in that environment.

3. The Spirit inspired it. The first Christians not only worshiped together at the temple but meet together in small groups in their homes (Acts 2:46). The churches that Paul established met in homes and this was the pattern up until the 4th Century when the first church buildings appeared.

4. It is the most effective way to build Christian community. A small group setting helps us to get to know one another, to care and support one another, to pray for one another and to help each other grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ with one another. It provides a place where new Christians can be discipled and taught.

5. It is an environment for leadership development. God has given all of us gifts of the Spirit to use to serve others. The small group setting allows for gift discovery and development in a non-intimidating and loving environment. It also helps keep the focus of leadership in proper perspective: to serve others in the family of God and in our community, not for self exultation or personal gain.

New Life Groups

follow

New Life Christian has 6 Life Groups in the Lower Mainland. Groups are located in New Westminster, White Rock, Delta, Langley, Abbotsford, and meet every second week in the evening. We also have a Surrey group which meets here at Legacy Church on Saturdays. You are always welcome to attend. We are excited to launch a new 8-session DVD series put out by Andy Stanley from North Point Ministries in our Life Groups, starting February. The study is entitled:

Jesus Invites You To Follow
No Matter What You Believe, No Matter How You Believe

Lots of people think Christianity is all about doing what Jesus says. But what if doing what Jesus says isn't what Jesus says to do at all? Jesus' invitation is an invitation to relationship, and it begins with a simple request: follow me. Religion says, "Change and you can join us." Jesus says, "Join us and you will change." There's a huge difference. Jesus doesn't expect people to be perfect. He just wants them to follow him. Being a sinner doesn't disqualify anyone. Being an unbeliever doesn't disqualify anyone. In fact, following almost always begins with a sinner and unbeliever taking one small step.

In this 8-session video-based Bible study, Andy Stanley takes you on a journey through the Gospels as he traces Jesus' teaching on what it means to follow. Contact Craig or one of the elders for addresses and times. Come "DO LIFE WITH US".
